More than just cookies…

For those of you who are familiar with my bakery, you know I do a lot of cookies. But I also sell so much more. I have a biscotti loaf recipe that I can add almost anything to. Like:

Lemon blueberry

Apricot and orange

Cranberry Walnut

Peppermint and eggnog

Or whatever combination of dried fruit or nuts you like

I also make scones featuring similar flavors. I was partial to my Apple Cinnamon ones though.

And if you’re not into sweets, that’s ok too. I make biscuits, either plain, with sausage, or sausage and cheese. I’m also working on a gluten free pretzel.

Lost Horizon Night Market

This weekend was incredible. I participated in the second Lost Horizon Night Market over in Brooklyn. A few girls and I got together to peddle our sweet treats in the form of erotic baked goods that we allowed people to decorate. Laura and Krista made sugar cookies and gingerbread for the indiscriminate eaters (read no dietary restrictions). Lili made vegan gingerbread and vanilla cupcakes. And I, of course, supplied the gluten free snacks in the form of sugar cookies and chocolate cupcakes. We had a fantastically overwhelming response and it felt awesome to be able to have something for everyone to enjoy.

The other trucks were no less awesome and creative. I rather enjoyed the shenanigans of the smallest circus I’ve ever seen. And I bartered some vegan cookies for the most gorgeous screen-printed t-shirt design ever. Talent was out in abundance and so was fun. It was probably the best weekend I’ve had since moving to NYC. For those of you who attended, thanks for all your hard work and support. I can’t wait to do it again with each and every one of you! For those of you who missed it, maybe next time.

Red, White, and Blue

For Thanksgiving this year, I made red, white, and blue cookies so that there would be a gluten-free dessert available. Five dozen cookies made their way to my cousins’ house. And they were a huge success. People who didn’t know they were gluten free were surprised when I told them, which I consider to be one of the highest compliments.

Cookies and peanut butter fudge, yum!

Since my diagnosis came when I was an adult, I’m used to the texture of food made with wheat flour, which is why I get so excited when people compliment these cookies. Especially when people who aren’t living gluten free like them. I hope you enjoy them too.

Just a few examples of the flavors I’ve been working on since I got started:

Rosemary Sugar Cookies. Classic sugar cookies rolled in dried rosemary. The woodsy rosemary perfectly compliments the buttery cookie and goes great with lemon curd.

Chocolate Orange Cookies. Basic chocolate cookies turned up a bit with the addition of fresh orange zest. A little indulgent and a little playful.

Blackberry and Anise Thumbprint Cookies. Shortbread cookies livened up with a touch of anise. Blackberry jam to compliment the licorice flavor. Not your grandma’s shortbread.

Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies. Who doesn’t love chocolate chip cookies? Soft, pillowy cookies brimming with semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Red, White, and Blue Cookies. Chocolate chip cookie base, with a fun twist. Cranberries, blueberries, and white chocolate chips make this cookie a great alternative.

Vanilla Wafers. A gluten-free, homemade version of the Nilla Wafer. Perfect for banana pudding. Or dress them up with a bit of citrus zest and serve with ice cream.

Classic Peanut Butter Cookies. Creamy peanut butter, crunchy peanuts, and peanut butter chips. Not for the faint of heart.

Hey guys, welcome to Sans. If you’re new here, feel free to check out my other blog at www.farealafemme.com. That one’s all about my life and my food adventures. This one here, well it’s a little bit special. This is to promote and make available my gluten free baked goods. I’m starting up a mail-order bakery service. That means that you can have my GF cookies, biscotti, scones, and other treats delivered to your house. Awesome, right?

It works like this. You email me at sansbakery@gmail.com with a request for something delicious. I do a consult to find out what flavors you like and what kind of item you want. We do the business-y thing of pricing and shipping, and then you enjoy gluten free deliciousness at home without the effort of all the baking.
